Battiston’s: A Family Business since 1946
Battiston’s Fabric Care Specialists, one of New England’s largest dry cleaners, was founded in 1946 by Lino J. Battiston in West Hartford, CT. Lino began his career in 1930, at age 16, as a presser for a large dry cleaner and launderer in Hartford. During the next fourteen years the ambitious young Battiston graduated from the General Dry Cleaning and Dry Cleaning Management courses offered by the National Institute of Dry Cleaning in Silver Spring, Maryland, all the while working as a pants presser, spot remover and finally a manager of the Hartford firm.
Armed with a thorough knowledge of dry cleaning technology and a dedication to personalized customer service, Lino opened his first plant on New Park Avenue in West Hartford in 1946. The new business prospered. In 1955, Battiston opened a second plant. During the next three years, three more locations were added and Battiston’s had achieved recognition as an industry leader.
Lino Battiston retired in 1984 and passed away in 1987. The Battiston family has carried on his tradition of service, with stores continuing to be owned and operated by members of the family.
Currently, Battiston’s provides service to the Hartford metropolitan area and surrounding towns. We also cover customers throughout almost all of north-central Connecticut and even parts of Massachusetts.
